How to choose roller skates
Quad roller skates or inline skates
Quad roller skates have two pairs of wheels side by side and a toe stop at the front. The wide base feels steady when you stand still, which is why many people pick quads for cruising and dance. Inline skates put the wheels in one line and suit longer, faster rides.
Pick your style
Lifestyle quads such as the Chaya Melrose are made for cruising, with a soft boot and soft outdoor wheels. Park skates roll on small, hard wheels for ramps and bowls. Roller derby skates use a low, supportive boot for quick steps and stops, and jam and dance skates are set up for spins on smooth floors.
Soft wheels for outside, hard wheels for inside
Wheel hardness is shown as a number with an A. Softer wheels, around 78A to 85A, grip the ground and soak up bumps, so they suit outdoor paths. Harder wheels, from about 88A up to 101A, slide and roll faster on smooth rink and skatepark floors. Most of our lifestyle quads come with 78A outdoor wheels, and wheels can be changed later.
Sizing
Most adult quads come in single EU sizes: many women's models run from EU 36 to 42, and unisex models go up to EU 46. Kids models such as the Chaya Bliss adjust across several sizes, for example EU 31 to 34, so they last longer as the foot grows. Measure the foot from the heel to the longest toe and check the size chart on the product page.
